Lego - Macintosh mashup

CHALLENGE:
We wanted to create a shareable self-promotion targeting advertising + digital agencies. There was no budget for production.

SOLUTION:
Advertising people love Apple products. We leveraged this emotional connection to a brand, and created a concept that was fun, unexpected and useful. We designed a product that any Apple enthusiast could build themselves, and we made a simple, entertaining stop-motion film showing them how to do it. We made a scale version of the classic 1984 Apple Macintosh in LEGO, and with a few simple adjustments made it into an iPad docking station. It's perfect for watching movies, reading blogs, and it looks awesome on your desk. As a self-promotion piece, it was a great way to showcase our interest in technology, craft, social media and creativity.
RESULT:
The film was seeded on Twitter and Facebook, and it took off immediately. In the fist few days it was picked up by some of the biggest advertising and design blogs, and achieved a twitter reach of over 21 million people.

The blog posts received over 160,000 impressions, and the film approached 100,000 views.
Within the next few weeks the film was featured in TIME Magazine.
And America's most popular morning TV show, Good Morning America to 5.950 million viewers.
People shared images of the computer on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest.
Traffic to our portfolio was up over 1,550% in the first 4 weeks of the campaign.
We made posters that also function as instruction manuals on how to build the iPad dock yourself. The design is constructed to work the same way LEGO works, the pieces fit together and you can put one on top of another.
