PACKAGING STRUCTURE - Tower of Trivia

The brief was to reduce the cost of an established line without sacrificing any of the appeal or novelty that the Tower of Trivia offered. The original design had been a set of 5 slide-out drawers in the vertical pack. This design itself had been a late change from the products original concept that was prone to damage during use due to glue not being strong enough to support the weight of the drawer contents.
To remove material and assembly labour, a vertical insert was created to create a series of slot in trays, like pigeon holes. Each hole was angled to keep the cards in place, and sized to correspond to the number of question cards at that particular level. The card angle also created a space for the sand timer to slot in at the bottom of the stack.
The insert was designed to fit the original outer packaging and sleeve, so no other existing packaging components had to be changed, saving printing plate and diet tool setup costs.
