This project was assigned, while I was a student at The California College of the Arts. The digital type design was just one small aspect of the project. For example, we had to do the type by hand, before going to digital. We also had to create mood boards. Unfortunately, I don't have my notes, and since I made the hand done type with actual M&Ms, it was thrown out. My hard drive also crashed, so I couldn't dig up photos of the process, which is infuriating. Back to the project... we had to choose a holiday, and my professor and I settled on: National Candy Day. As you can see, I chose the most common colors for M&Ms: red, yellow and blue. Coincidentally, those are also the primary colors, in the subtractive color space... for the designers/artists out there, it's a triadic color scheme. The poster itself is set on a modular grid. I enjoyed the process of making type, and will definitely dabble in it again, hopefully, someday soon.
