I am getting more and more fond of using the creative form of cultural appropriation. In my opinion, illustration can communicate well and remove the limitation of understanding the context, so I want to tell some Chinese stories in my work, but not in the stereotypical way. I have organized some of my past works in an editorial way, I hope you like them.

Swatch Art Peace Hotel
Artist Residency
I spent three months in the Swatch Peace Art Hotel as a residency artist and a passenger, so I'm deeply fascinated by the history and past story behind the building. From daytime to midnight, reality transformed into dreaming with the illumination of urban legend in front of my eye.
The first artwork is inspired by the front door of my residency hotel because it's very eye-catching and unique at the end of the East Nanjing Road.
Every night when I go back, the light of the chandelier and glass roof always stop me from thinking of a flame-attracted moth or a lady wearing a cheongsam walk out from a spy movie.
The opposite view from my studio inspired the second piece, but the curtain across the room was never opened. So I had a lot of space to imagine what is behind the hidden corners, maybe a red dragon, because I found a long red carpet, the stairs, and shadow at night.

I blended the styling of Chinese and Swiss folk crafts to create a pattern with national flowers and the stories behind different culture.
Packaging for Patron
Because of the epidemic, this project did not land in airports around the world. The theme of this event is New Year and I want to tell the story about the door gods, who appear in the New Year and have their own names and meanings.
