Brand Identity Design for Tahoe Tessie

Grateful for the creative opportunity to establish the branding, illustration work and label design for Tahoe Tessie Hard Seltzers in Reno, Nevada. Tahoe Tessie is a hard seltzer line by Record Street Brewing Company that launched with two flavors: Lime and Strawberry Lemonade. The can label design took home a gold crushie in 2022 for best hard seltzer label design in the global Craft Beer Marketing Awards. Take a peek below at my creative process in establishing this fun and refreshing brand.

At Hoot Design Studio, it all begins with a sketch! A creative idea first expressed on paper with pencil. From there, depending on the scope of the design project, I ink the lines of the illustration and digitize the artwork.

Tahoe Tessie Hard Seltzers take their inspiration from the legend of the Tahoe Tessie, a long-lost cousin to the world famous Loch Ness Monster. Tessie is a Lake Tahoe folklore that has long been shared and now can be celebrated with a moment of pure refreshment. Discover the crisp flavor as your taste buds dive into North America's largest alpine lake, home of the 60-foot-long serpentine creature.

There is nothing like seeing your art in the wild! I’m honored to have developed the design and branding for this delicious liquid. The creative label design is printed on clear substrate and shrink wrapped to the can to create a clean and professional look.

The second flavor release is Strawberry Lemonade! YUM Tahoe Tessie’s original Lime flavor has a friend. When developing the branding, I designed the label in such a way that the creative artwork could change depending on the flavor of the product inside! They key to branding is keeping the unity and consistency from label to label on the shelf at the distributor. Customer’s will recognize the brand, and the layout of the label but will notice the color change triggering them to pick it up and say hey wait a minute this is NEW! I have to try it! Hence, making a purchase!
