The idea came from a screen cap of show called The Big O. I have been looking at this show for inspiration in its themes, and cinematography. It has been a powerful image in my head for along time. I, of course, do not believe it is necessary to have seen any part of Big O to understand the image.
The phrase at the top is also from the show. It basically means, whoever wields the weapon of God will not suffer guilt, or whoever is not guilty is worthy of wielding the power of God. I could have chosen to express this more clearly, but I stuck with “Cast in the name of God, Ye not guilty” because it sounds cool, despite its poor grammar. And even in its explanation it is still a mystery. I chose to put it in as a sort of redemptive, yet still frightening, message, in an otherwise condemning image. The Bible speaks of the Law of the LORD being a mirror, reflecting who we really are. The Law condemns and kills. Being consistent with reality, the Mirror is shattered in this image. And yet, those who believe in Jesus can cover that broken law with Blood and be called “not guilty”. It is the mystery of the balance between destiny and choice.
