Challenge
• Create a premium quality car in-sight mirror to see a baby at any angle, day or night, while you drive!
• Research LED lighting effects and modes on children’s products and design for parents driving with rear-facing children under 2.
• Provide solutions to unmet travel needs, maintaining a gold standard in innovation, compliance, and functionality.
Contribution
• Day-to-day interaction with Engineers, Marketing, Costing, Packaging, and PD Management. Lead the entire industrial design process, including ideation, competitor research, material research, sketching, prototyping, 3D CAD construction, 3D rendering, design proposals, CMF specification, and sample reviews.
• Before dived into the design phase, similar products were studied and tested to understand the Pros and Cons of each product and how Munchkin items can be positioned in a competitive market.
• Through researches and testing, it was realized that the brightness of LEDs and the direction of the lighting is the utmost important thing in order to safely and softly light up a baby's face while it doesn't cause a harsh glare for a driver. Created color-changing LED feature that can either calm a baby down or keep it awake depends on the spectrum of the color light.
Achievements
• The first shipment of the product was instantly sold out, and the company is looking to expand the annual projection.
