bento. is a lunch box as the name suggest. A short weekend project with an emphasis on CMF exploration on one of the most basic product in existence.

bento is a microwave safe lunch box which has the only necessary amount of plastics in it's construction, just enough to make it microwave friendly. Wooden lid instead of plastic, armed with magnetic tips to hold it in place and a silicone seal to avoid spillage.
Form of the box already existed in one my previous works. The mood board below was developed for CMF
The final form comprised of a wooden lid, metal box with plastic casing. After thoroughly researching the wood finishes, colors and plastics the following color palette was developed comprising of colors best suited with materials in use as well as reflect the purpose of the product which was to carry food.
(red dot denotes the colors used for final design)

Woods have varying wood grain, textures, colors and patterns. The final design consists of a pale colored wood with uniform grain similar to that of maple wood. Pale appearance also makes the overall appearance quite upmarket. Wood being an insulator helps keep the food fresh
