Mr. Blankie is a small studio and gift shop from Kuwait, offering handmade crochet baby blankets. Each blanket is made to order from 100% organic cotton yarn. It is a unique piece of baby layette. Each blanket comes with a bunny head and paws, becoming the baby’s first soft toy.
What did the client need?
The client needed a visual identity that conveyed the warm and gentle nature of the studio’s creations as well as the love and care for children. The logo was to contain an image of a bunny, stay close to the shape of the studio’s blankets (rhombus), and feature a reference to the technique used to make them – crochet. The client wanted the color palette to feature the shades of the yarn she uses to make the blankets. In addition to the visual identity, she also needed all the resources to label, package, and sell her products.
What did my job involve?
My job was to design a logo according to the client’s guidelines. The client chose one of the three ideas I sent her. I then modified the selected version to make it as close to the client’s vision as possible. It contained an image of a bunny as similar to the mascot as possible. I also made the entire logo resemble the shape of a diamond. To incorporate the blanket motif into the logo, I used repetitive shapes resembling weaves of yarn coming one after another – one of which is also the heart of the bunny. I also used them to design the company icons, pattern, and heart motif that appears on all company materials. I designed the full visual brand identity along with all publicity materials and social media graphics.
