DEFRAG technology magazine for ipad/tablet

This was a final project in my Typography III class, in my third year at MassArt. The assignment was to design a magazine in order to challenge our knowledge of typography, hierarchy, and complex grid systems. While the rest of my classmates produced print pieces, I was inspired by the realization that those who are reading technology magazines probably have access to sophistocated technology, and may not frequently purchase print magazines.

This system takes advantage of the touch screen device as an improvement to the flow, comprehension, and organization of the content.
A book review was an inquired portion of the project.
Game, movie, and technology reviews were a personal addition in place of more book reviews, and utilize video rather than text to keep the viewer interested.
Letter from the editor, with "me" as Summer Glau because multiple people have commented that I look like her. Introduces the magazine and its "mission statement," if you will, as this is supposedly the first issue.
More required information: contributors.
An example of each contributor's short bio, which would be accessable if the reader clicked on a contributor's photo.
Table of contents
First mocked-up article, "Emerging Technologies." The user would have the option of clicking on a photo of interest to proceed, clicking the "next" button, or swiping the screen.
An example of being inside the "Emerging Technologies" article.

Inside the second mocked-up article, "Warp Drive" (content from Wired magazine).
An example of how the user can click through the images in the article without losing their place.
Cover for the second theoretical issue of DEFRAG.
