Palouse Spring

In the rolling prairies of Eastern Washington, the manicured hills stretch forever.  Its simple and peaceful beauty inspires awe. It's called "The Palouse."

A friend said, "It's like someone frosted the fields with the texture of Cool Whip."

Everywhere you look you can see a minimalist aesthetic beauty.  While I know I'm not being original, I can't help but want to capture it.
The colors just smack you in the face.
On the edge of the Palouse is the Columbia Wilderness Refuge, providing a completely different vibe.  Yes, there are pelicans in Eastern Washington.
Yes, they really are that color at sunset...
A seam of green and blue cut through the refuge.  A single tree graces the shore.
Desert textures abound.
I keep returning to this spot.  Something about it feels right. Others have come here over the centuries and watched a peaceful sunset from here, no doubt.  No one for miles.  Just bird songs break the silence.  I watch the light fade knowing I still have a 120 miles to drive this evening, and the long June evening will go on for hours more.  Maybe another 30 minutes...
