KANEKO continued their yearlong focus on architecture and invited three of Omaha’s largest architecture and engineering firms to create exhibits that showcase their design philosophy through conceptual projects. Each firm was given blank space in one of KANEKO’s newly renovated galleries to express themselves and their architectural philosophies. DLR Group’s exhibit was focused around an award winning educational project that the firm had designed. The intent was to inform the audience about the process of designing a 21st century school, yet display the information on the bones of an iconic “Old School” structure. The exhibit incorporated bold graphics depicting the design process, as well as showing a professionally produced video that was created for award submittals. A secondary structure was built to double as a sign for the exhibit, as well as provide specific firm information. While numerous DLR Group employees were utilized during the assembly of the structure, the design was the brainchild of architect Scott Dobbe, graphic designer Adam Wells, interior designer Melissa Lindberg and architect/woodworker extraordinaire Edward Leach.
