"Urban", 24x36, Serigraph/Monoprint, Watercolor and Transparent Ink, 2013
For this project I wanted to experiment with monoprinting using a silkscreen. I chose a word that represented a style and wanted that word to be written to suit. As you can see, for this print my word of choice was "urban." For the interior of the word I prepared layers of graffiti to draw on my screen and fill in using water color.
I seperated the word into two screens to help emphasize the layered feel that walls of graffiti have. My first screen had the letters: R A. The drawing/painting process was very long for each of these screens, especially since only one solid print can be pulled from each time.
