BERLIN
GERMANY
Berlin is the capital city of Germany and has a rich and fascinating history. The city has been a center of power for centuries and has seen numerous periods of growth and decline throughout its history. Berlin was once the capital of the Holy Roman Empire and later became the capital of Prussia. In the 19th century, Berlin underwent rapid industrialization and became one of the leading cities in Europe. After World War II, the city was divided into two parts – East Berlin, controlled by the Soviet Union, and West Berlin, controlled by the Western Allies. In 1989, the Berlin Wall fell, marking the end of the division and the beginning of reunification. Today, Berlin is a thriving and dynamic city that has become a popular tourist destination, known for its rich cultural heritage, historical landmarks, and vibrant arts scene. Berlin is keep evolving, today Berlin is a world city of culture, politics, media, and science. Jack Lang once said "Paris is always Paris and Berlin is never Berlin!"
Berlin as the capital of Germany is far from formal. I felt that this city is vibrant and full of the youngster with a wide range of enthusiasm. The only thing that reminds me that this city is the capital is those historical government buildings and monuments. Enjoy!
Thank you for traveling with me!
This is part of my ongoing travel visual clips, where I share a glimpse of my travel visuals and thoughts. Each series features a paragraph about the history of the place, followed by a paragraph describing my thoughts while exploring that place. Accompanied by no more than fifteen carefully curated images that I took, each series is intended to give you the umami of travel. - Julius Yls
