BESANCON - FRANCE

BESANÇON
FRANCE
Besançon, a charming city nestled in the heart of France, boasts a rich history that dates back to the Bronze Age. It thrived under the Roman Empire as a military stronghold and was later known as the capital of Sequani Gaul. The city's geographical allure comes from its position in the loop of the Doubs River, which made it naturally defensible and led to the construction of the impressive Citadel of Besançon in the late 17th century. The 18th century brought prosperity to Besançon with its renowned clock-making industry, solidifying its reputation as "the watch capital".
Through the 19th century, Besançon expanded with the advent of the railway, and its centuries-old University of Franche-Comté flourished. Today, the city presents a harmonious blend of historical and modern architecture, bustling with vibrant life. Besançon is not just a paradise for history enthusiasts and photographers, but also a haven for nature lovers, with abundant beauty in its botanical garden, the Doubs River, and the surrounding Franche-Comté countryside. Its captivating history is a tapestry of cultural, military, and industrial threads, which continue to remain vibrant and engaging for every curious visitor.
As soon I arrived in Besançon, I was instantly hit by just how cool this city is. It's like walking through a history book but way more fun. All around me were these amazing buildings, each one telling its own story. The houses in the city weren't just buildings; they were like artworks, each one different and full of detail. Wandering around Besançon, I felt like I was in a movie, discovering secrets and stories everywhere I turned. This city is not just old - it's ancient, beautiful, and definitely worth the visit. Enjoy!
