Amsterdam - Giethoorn - Delft
The Netherlands, also known as Holland, is a country located in northwestern Europe. The history of the Netherlands dates back to the ancient times when it was inhabited by various Germanic tribes. In the 15th century, the Netherlands became a center of trade and commerce and was ruled by the Burgundian and Habsburg dynasties. The country gained independence from Spain in the late 16th century and became a republic in the late 17th century. During the 17th and 18th centuries, the Netherlands was one of the leading colonial powers and had a global empire that included territories in North America, South Africa, and the East Indies. In the 19th and 20th centuries, the Netherlands became a constitutional monarchy, and played a neutral role during World War I. During World War II, the country was occupied by Nazi Germany, and after the war, it became a founding member of the European Union. Today, the Netherlands is a prosperous country with a rich cultural heritage, and is known for its flat landscape, windmills, tulips, cheese, and wooden shoes. It is also a leader in areas such as technology, water management, and international trade.
The Netherlands or some people called Holland is a very interesting place to visit. It offers beautiful canal scenes, colonials architects, and peaceful countryside sceneries. To me is also a sentimental place because part of my ancestors was Dutch. Enjoy!
