Job
Create poster and flyer for a workshop on "Fundamental Questions of Consequentialistic Ethics" on 16-17 February 2012 at the Hanse Wissenschaftskolleg (Delmenhorst).
Topic
That of the available options for action one should always realize the one that has the best consequences, is an obvious thesis. Why would you do A, if one knows that B has the better consequences? But as obvious as this thesis of consequentialism is, it raises so many questions at once. What is a "consequence" after all? And how can the different consequences of different actions be compared and evaluated? Should it actually only come down to the consequences or do other factors play a role as well?
Realisation
A photo of dominoes forming a question mark on the floor was taken and processed through perspective correction in Photoshop. The image was printed and then traced with a fineliner onto a second sheet. This sheet was placed on the floor again, supplemented with more dominoes, and then photographed again from the right angle. Finally, a photo of a pointing hand was taken and fit into the second scene using Photoshop.
