Minders Of The Market

College Project.
Final Project for Digital Photography.
Approx. time given: 8 weeks. (May - Aug '12)

Amongst the hustle and the bustle of the night market, the people who respond to most dealings are the shop-minders. They’re the ones that set up the stalls, provide the goods and pack up after everything is done. One could say they’re the core elements of the night market. Moods range from monotonous minding to boisterous banter as they promote their products to the people milling around the area. These pictures serve to describe how the shopkeepers manage from day to day in their stalls. Products are shown with various forms of composition; mainly with repeating patterns and leading lines to enhance their appeal to the customers.
Just a fraction of the many varieties of goods available at the local street market.

Storekeepers protect their products from the rain with giant umbrellas and plastic coverings.
Swapping stories when there's a break to be had.
Known as 'Lok Lok', customers are expected to cook their own food on the spot at this mobile store cum vehicle.
Busy storeowners working 360 degrees in all directions with a wide range of food products for sale.
Many varieties of drinks available that could quench the fussy customer's thirst.
Local food that you can rarely find overseas; making it on the spot guarantees that it's fresh.
Orange peels litter the ground as the evidence of customers who have tried a sample of the fruit.
These shopkeepers bring their own ovens, suggesting that they make their bread fresh on the spot.
A fishmonger who's all smiles points out some fresh fish to prospective customers.
A little boy and his mom eagerly waiting for bubble tea as the stall owner makes it with haste.
