Blissetts - Book Publishers

Blissetts was established in 1920 in London by Frederick Blissett and is now run by fourth-generation Chris Blissett, with Dad Gary Blissett lending a helping hand now and then! In total, a team of 30 employees work across all of the services we offer.

Blissetts bindery is at the heart of the British binding trade. From humble beginnings, our goal has always been to provide the best quality services. Four generations later, our passion has continued to allow us to maintain exceptional standards of craft, from the restoration of books to modern-day digital design.

Blissetts prides itself on its quality and customer service, and every member of the company will strive to exceed customer expectations.

Until 2000, our core service was bookbinding; since then, the natural step into print & design services has been taken. Blissetts still remains the largest specialist bookbinder in the south of England, but the digital side of our business has grown rapidly to become just as important a part of what we do.

Looking at What They Offer
For their photobook printing services, they have their own software for customers to use, making the design process a lot simpler.
In terms of styles that they offer, they have 3 varieties:

• Illustrated hardcover
• Contemporary photo books
• Leather photo books

The option that I have been looking at is leather, as I want my book to have the look and feel of an old family photo album. The leather option is a classic and much more of a ‘premium’ product; they offer both bonded leathers and real leather. The real leather range includes traditional colours but also bright ones for a modern yet classic feel. The bonded leather is a more affordable option that still gives the feel of real leather. These books use 200 gsm silk paper. The cost of the real leather is shown below:

Leather from hide:

120 x 120 - £121.00
210 x 210 - £143.00
A5 P & L - £132.00
A4 P & L - £187.00
300 x 300 - £220.00
A3 P & L - £247.50

Their examples of the work that they have produced, I think that they are stunning and of really high quality. I definitely think that if I was to send my book to print, this would definitely be an option for me, it would definitely cost me a lot more to produce, but if I want a high standard book that can last a lifetime, then I think it would be worth doing so.
