Rocky Road is the story about Karensa de Freitas journey and growth through life. As a once reserved only child she reflects on how she came to run a popular ice cream shop called the Royal Danish Ice Cream shop and deals with the social issues involved in being in the business. Through her childhood, running her shop and starting her family she discusses how she has grown and set her insecurities aside to become more comfortable in her environment. Her journey is told through both written and visual narrative and every aspect of the book adds to this narrative in some way.
