Vintage Comic Covers - Tierra X

Around October 2020, YouTube channel Tierra X hired me to produce a series of vintage inspired comic book covers for their soon to be released LIVE! series, both in "regular" comic book format and also as a widescreen YouTube cover format.

Deeply rooted in a love for the medium, Tierra X hosts Nicolás and Javier discuss comic-books' various expressions and multiple influences on popular culture. Started out in 2016 as a youtube channel producing video essays, interviews and show coverings, then became a podcast (45 episodes and counting) and recently turned into a weekly live show. As we started, I sent them 2 sketches for the first broadcast, a show centered around Joker's history:
Which evolved into the first cover for the channel, and its YouTube version:
Since then, we've produced 14 LIVE! covers and 2 PODCAST! covers. One per week.

Process for a cover:
Usually all done in Adobe Photoshop with a Wacom tablet, I'm in charge of art, lettering and design, while ideas & scripts are provided byTierra XEvery cover begins as a rough sketch and evolves through inks into a fully designed comic book cover with "aged" overlays, and sometimes with a retro color process. This is done in 2-4 days depending on the complexity of each cover.
LIVE! Covers #2-14:
For some of these I drew inspiration from actual comic covers, while other were original concepts. Many emulate the art style of the late Jack "King" Kirby.

PODCAST! Covers #44-45:
When Tierra X resumed its podcast after a long hiatus, I thought of giving its cover a different treatment. Both logo and corner box were change to this effect.
Cover Headers:
LIVE! Header, going for a '60s Comic Style
PODCAST! Header, aiming for a '80s-'90s comic style

Lettering & art highlights:
This is an ongoing project, with new covers appearing every week!
It's has pushed me into learning new techniques and improving my art style. I'm enormously thankful with Tierra X for trusting me for this.

Hope you like it :) Please leave a comment and let me know if you identified the covers some of these are based on <3
