el lissitzky

180 pages, 160 x 240 mm  /  Curated by Evgeny Korneev  /  HSE Art and Design School 2020
Concept of the book about Russian avant-garde artist El Lissitzky, based on the materials of the exhibition that took place in two spaces — Tretyakov Gallery and Jewish Museum — in Moscow in 2017.
This edition is compiled by the constructive idea to use thick toned paper as chapter separators without additional graphics. Every chapter fits into one or two sheet  signtarues of the book so that the schmutz titles are always in the middle of specific unit. The number of signatures is adjusted to the size of the chapter. The idea was to find and explore ways in which a certain combination of design, typography and photography reinforces the graphic style in such a way that it accentuates the principles of Lissitzky himself.
Book includes four parts: "The Artist-Inventor", "Typography. Photobook, Poster", "Imagination and the concept of space in architecture" and "Exhibition projects".
