The design takes inspiration from the 'punt', the concave base at the bottom of a glass bottle.
A 'punt' is traditionally used to add structure and stability to a bottle, without the need for a heavy glass base. The design uses a punt in both bottle and glass, stabilising the upturned glass on top of the bottle neck.
The Punt carafe is hand-blown in smoke-grey sodalime glass.
