Project Description
Design an educational pavilion for the United States Botanical Garden that celebrates plants and their role in our daily lives.
Process
Instead of using a top-down approach to site design, we started by designing a basic module that would morph based on site conditions. The module would then evolve to accomodate user programming and eventually form larger structures such as buildings or follies.
Solution
In our modular form, we sought to address plants’ role in storm water management within an urban environment. The pitched green roof serves as the to key component to the module, filtering rainwater before directing it to vegetated swales for further cleansing.
