Volcanic eruption in Iceland

Volcanic eruption in Iceland
After a year long period of seismic unrest on the Reykjanes peninsula, the month of February 2021 saw an increase in that process with more than 40.000 earthquakes recorded.

The outcome of that tectonic event resulted in the apparition of a volcanic fissure in the mountains of Fagradalsfjall on the Reykjanes peninsula on the eve of the 19th of March 2021.

The eruption, judged non threatening at the moment to populations, is happening in a small valley from that massif, called Geldingadalur.

Due to its size and location, the public is allowed to visit the site when weather permits.
I managed to access the location two days after it's started for a first visit and I went again to experience the transformation of the land as it's still ongoing...
