Every year on March Sydney celebrates the lives and contributions of Australia’s GLBTQI community. It all started in 1978 when on a cold night in Darlinghurst a small group of protestors went out to the streets to march for their rights and to be heard; that night ended up with police violence and arrests and was also the beginning of the Mardi Gras celebration. This  festivity transforms  the city into a very colourful and eventful place where large numbers of interstate and international travellers get together to peacefully and happily celebrate life and differences.
