A Crystal and a Cell

Presenting our creation made under the theme Distortional Evolution.

We wanted to make an immersive video that is not created through a computer. Animations that you might think are made through a powerful 3D program, but which can be hard to recreate like we've done it. Liquids are unpredictable, random and will mix to create movement and colors that create a unique look that can be difficult to generate in a computer. Our initial idea was to experiment with chemical reactions and we present this through the ice and distortion in the video, this creates a contrast to the rest otherwise very organic and smooth liquids.

Student non-commercial project at Hyper Island. The theme/concept behind this project was "Distorted Evolution" and ended up deciding to play around with different liquids/chemicals and filmed the process.

Workforce: Johan Fredriksson, Daniel Montero, Jonas MerhawiFilip Ristic, Simon Bokedal Byström & Simon Ekstrand.

VoiceOver / Poem by William Herbert Carruth (1859-1924) / "Each in His Own Tongue" / Read by Tom O'Bedlam
Music by Einsturzende Neubauten. Headcleaner I: Zentrifuge / Stabs / Rotlichtachse / Propaganda / Aufmarsch. II: Einhorn. III: Marschlied
