Balance
Balance is a minimalist floor lamp made of filigree wood. Its scissor arm changes the standing angle of the lamp when used and thus also the lighting situation in the room, which leads to different light atmospheres. The inset power cable creates further filigree and value of the product. It is conceived in such a way that in the manufacturing process it recycles solid wood scraps from furniture making, which find no further use.
Balance can be produced rationally, cheaply but also ecologically.
The filigree luminaire is light, stable and requires few resources. In addition, it is flexible, space-saving, collapsible and can be dismantled into its components without any problems. Scrap wood that can no longer be used in production for other pieces of furniture is ideally suited for the construction of the product. The fact that there are no material and disposal costs for the actual „waste“ makes the luminaire attractive even for small series.
„As a carpenter and student, I wanted to develop a luminaire that was consciously made of used material. Without any concrete ideas, I searched my father‘s workshop and decided to build my luminaire from scrap wood, an old drill cable and a renovation lampholder. During the design process, I was very inspired by the fact that you can make a lot out of very little and that it is worth consciously doing without things in order to find answers to today‘s problems.“

Beautiful forms with high functionality, durable quality, low price and a sustainable value chain. High functionality is given by the adjustment possibilities of the of the scissor arm. The luminaire can be adjusted to the desired light situation and can be placed anywhere thanks to its light weight of 3 kg. Durable quality and robustness are ensured by the materials used. An 8mm stainless steel thread holds the feet and the scissor arm together stably and securely. The lampshade is given additional stability by its shape and and protects the lamp. A low price can be achieved due to the low material consumption and the simple, straightforward design. In addition buyers can assemble their luminaire on site without tools. This saves further production costs, which means that more customers can more customers can afford the product. Wood as a renewable raw material is used effectively and most of it is is used effectively and is not disposed of by incineration or waste recycling. Bulbs and cables can be removed after a product life simply dismantle and recycle accordingly.
