Ikarus invites the world’s best chefs, Volume 7

When technology, art and cuisine meet, a magical place comes to life – Hangar-7 at the Salzburg Airport. There, the two Michelin-stars awarded Restaurant Ikarus offers one of the most exciting restaurant concepts: The world’s best chefs take turns each month at creating elaborate dishes for the Ikarus guests. In the kitchens of Restaurant Ikarus, Executive Chef Martin Klein and his well-coordinated team perfectly stage the guest chefs’ menus with the most exquisite ingredients from around the world.

Martin Klein travels to the countries and kitchens of the guest chefs and presents in the seventh volume of the book series »Ikarus invites the world’s best chefs« the exciting creations of top chefs from Greece, Portugal, Thailand, Italy, Brazil, Germany, France and Austria as well as their personal stories and places. Even in difficult times, the Ikarus team maintains its creativity: Due to travel restrictions, guests and fans of the gourmet restaurant were invited for the month of June to choose dishes of the twelve most popular guest chefs of the last seventeen years.

Comprising ten chapters and 344 pages – the current volume »Ikarus invites the world’s best chefs« provides for each guest chef plenty of space for presentation. In addition to the recipes of the five signature dishes of each guest chef’s menu, a very personal and hand-written credo, a glimpse behind the scenes of Restaurant Ikarus and a report on the chef’s home restaurant, it is the expressive portraits of the chefs that distinguish the coffeetable book this time: We staged the first pages of each guest-chef chapter with silver print on black uncoated paper coloured in the mass, which is produced with light-fast pigments. The portraits and signatures, the biographical data of the chefs as well as the architectural pictures of Hangar-7 are UV-printed with silver. This way, we developed a symbiosis of materials – uncoated paper and coated art paper – and a symbiosis of graphic representation in black and white. The premium appearance of the book is completed on the book jacket with hot-foil stamping and embossing.
