These portraits are tied to the Pupation series. The characters shown are people I know, whom I find interesting (in both physical and psychological aspects), and they are undergoing a strange process of metamorphosis in what looks like an astral projection of a night village - instead of houses, there´s just neon portals, and the figures clad in old fashioned, maybe traditional clothes are covered with shining larvae.

I start with watery acrylics, that I let shine through at places, the rest of the paintings are elaborated in more realistic oil paint.

Pupation is a methaphorical, surreal painting series. It is loosely based on my personal past experience of adolescence in a small town surrounded by fileds - a time full of loneliness, confusion and feelings of not belonging - but it transcends into a series of movie-like scenes with various characters and naratives .
