Graphic Travelogues

Эту серию иллюстраций я сделала для проекта Graphic Travelogues от Гёте-Института.

Я живу в Калининграде 14 лет, этого достаточно, чтобы считаться местной, но всё ещё открывать новые места.

Проспект Мира, университет с башенкой — это исторический район «Амалиенау». Здесь всё очень родное, я училась здесь в школе и в университете, а теперь живу в этом районе.

I have lived in Kaliningrad for 14 years, which is enough to be considered as local, but still discovering new places.Prospekt Mira and the university building belong to the historic district of Amalienau. У Калининграда необычная история: до 1945 года он был Кёнигсбергом, столицей Восточной Пруссии. После войны он стал советским, многие части города были уничтожены войной, некоторые здания, например, Королевский замок, разрушили уже в мирное время. На месте Королевского замка построили Дом Советов, правда, это здание так и не ввели в эксплуатацию, оно до сих пор стоит пустым в центре города.

Kaliningrad has an unusual history: until 1945 it was Königsberg, the capital of East Prussia. After the war, the city became Soviet. Many parts of the city were destroyed by the war, but some buildings, for example, the Königsberg Castle, were destroyed already in peacetime. The House of Soviets was built on the site of the Königsberg Castle. However, this building has never been used, it still stands empty in the city center.

Königsberg was built on seven hills. This is one of them, the "Schlossberg". There used to be a Königsberg castle, now there is a House of Soviets.

Когда я только начала водить машину, я любила приезжать вечером в порт любоваться водой и индустриальным пейзажем. Но вот эллинги на Преголе я увидела впервые в этом году. Такой для меня Калининград: небольшой, но и готовый удивлять каждый раз, когда сворачиваешь со знакомой улицы.

When I first started driving, I loved to come to the sea port in the evening to admire the water and the industrial landscape. But I saw the boathouses for the first time this year. This is Kaliningrad for me: small, but also ready to surprise every time you turn off a familiar street.
