This piece was inspired by various music visualizers across several music platforms including Winamp and iTunes, and my obsession with them. Music is greatly intensified by the presence of visualizers, their presence means that the music can engage two of your main senses instead of one.
This project was to create a drawing tool. So while working to achieve engaging visuals that reacted to music, I incorporated functions and tools to allow the user an extra degree of control over the visuals they are experiencing.
Obviously, the users first reaction with the 'drawing tool' is a choice of song, different genres generate largely different patterns within the visuals and can change the composition completely. The user then has control over what visuals to display at any time, along with their colour scheme. The last feature is the fader, holding UP or DOWN on the arrow pad allows the user to edit the alpha channel of the background, which creates drastic changes for the visuals again.
