We received an illustration request for the electronic publication of the novel 'The Adventure Story of the Blue Flashing Light ~Even I, who had the power of a dragon, can’t beat a beautiful mage.~' (『碧色閃光の冒険譚～竜の力を宿した俺が、美人魔導師に敵わない～』)by Hiro Honoka. I created a cover illustration, 6 illustrations, and 6 character designs.

First of all, we received the text of the novel from the client. Also, We were designated to pick out the scene to draw with illustrations. In addition, we received dozens of image materials for image sharing. We also received data on the characteristics of each character.

As for the cover, the client sent me a simple composition. From there, we were able to see the targets, preferences and requests through interviews and feedback after submitting rough drawings. They said, "I want you two to feel like a buddy." "moderately gorgeous" "a mature design" and "a look on one's face at the moment of battle".

I first expressed "buddy feeling" by being conscious of a cyclical structure (Green circle shown below). Another important point in the composition is the tri-division method (Red and blue lines below). The two main characters are placed on the red line and the supporting mini dragon is placed on the blue line to make the main character stand out.The pink △ in the figure below has the effect of moving by first placing the eyes of each character, which is the point to be looked at, in an inverted triangle.

Also, as you said "a mature design", I made my eyes relatively small. The ratio of the head and body is relatively realistic.

For the "moderately gorgeous" part, we have added moderate hair ornaments and accessories for a gorgeous design.

At our company, our top priority is to create products that are close to the customer's image. In particular, in the case of illustrative illustrations for scenes such as illustrations, if you make a request with an awareness of 5W1H, I will be able to start production smoothly.

As for the characters, we have prepared "Character characteristic hearing sheet" to fill in the blanks. In addition, we can reflect the settings that have not been revealed in the design if you tell us in advance, so please specify them when you request.
