Steve Sweatpants A real-life Bedford-Stuyvesant Hero

A real-life Bedford-Stuyvesant Hero

Steven “Sweatpants” Irby is a Brooklyn-based street photographer and director and co-founder of quarterly photography publication Street Dreams Magazine. Born and bred in New York, Steven is inspired by his roots, hip-hop, video games and the unique energy of the city.

Steven commissioned a one-of-a-kind self-portrait, with a strong emphasis on capturing the essence of who he is and where he came from. The challenge lay in creating an artistic piece which incorporated many different elements: from a police car in flames, the New York World’s Fair, a character from videogame Shadow of the Colossus, to more personal touches such as the NY cap, Sony Alpha camera and Cartier watch. The project was incredibly rewarding to work on thanks to a strong mutual connection between Steven and ourselves.
