Documenting a Failed Documentary

Documenting A Failed Documentary

I set out to document the human footprint on the region of Provence. The region has been called home by the human race since the Neolithic age. Generations of people have used and molded the land to their needs, then passed it down to the following generation. Using a combination of 4x5 large format and 6x7 medium format film, the process of documenting the trail of human life began. In these images human life is represented by light in motion, depicting the use of the area through time.
The documentary turned into the documentation of a photographic process with a steep learning curve. Each failure was documented, like an experiment gone wrong, and each failure became in turn became part of the documentary.  In this way, I followed in the paths of mankind before me. The images are presented in chronological order to document my advancement through this process.
