Herbert F. Lubalin is an American typographic designer and is considered to be one of the most influential typographer and graphic designer. People recognize Lubalin’s because of his typeface Avant Garde. His use of creative style in his font was pushed beyond boundaries. His boldness has helped him create something that is unique and different from others. His idea has caught people’s attention and made him well known until today. You can still see his font being used in art deco, publications etc.
This is a 16 x 26 poster of Lubalin. This is a project where I focused on using just duotones to see what kind of effects it can create. The idea of using yellow and blue turned out very well. Through my process for colours, I went through images from the Avant Garde magazine which he worked for and picked certain colours from their fashion. As you can see, people recognized him for his boldness and THAT is exactly what I wanted my colours to be. BOLD BOLD BOLD!
