The Engagement | Tokyo, Japan Nintendo. Wii-U Launch

I put down the phone and took a deep breath.

“We want you to look at something extra ordinary and let your imagination run wild”

The words ran around my head along with one BIG name.

Nintendo.
The International Launch of the WII-U.

At the heart of the experience would be the innovative, touch screen controller.
Both an extension of the onscreen game play and a console within itself.

Created to deliver greater gamer immersion
and encourage shared family fun.
The concept I proposed was simple… Unity.

Integrate screen, gamepad, and player into one elegant architectural form.

One that Inspires, Invites, and Engages with players.
With outreached arms, the chosen design invites in gamers, holding high a large HD screen and branding for all to see.

Thrust forward is Hero of the show. The gamepad.

Secured with a unique detachable security device, gamers can fully explore the new world of the Wii-U gaming experience.
The stands modularity delivers a key driver for futureproofing and retailer assurance.

Designed to encourage continuing retailer compliance and resiting throughout the marketing cycle, whilst maximising both market exposure and ROI for the Nintendo trade marketing team.
Further industrial design investigation refined final form, lighting, and POS.

The design received an enthusiastic reception to manufacturing partners in Sydney, Australia and the Nintendo trade marketing team in Tokyo, Japan.
