Surreal Yeehaw Self-Portrait Series

I've been thinking a great deal about the tv show Firefly and the idea of a sci-fi western reality. This portrait series is the visual realization of some of my musings and reflections that I haven't been able to put to words.

My recent musings have incorporated the 2003 TMNT and the fugitoid (Professor Honeycut), Janelle Monae's Cindi Mayweather (the rebel android), and Gina Torres's character Zoe from Firefly. The idea of a future that blends high and low tech, that features an oppresive intergalactic force that seeks to conquer galaxies instead of countries, and of individuals and small groups that are "breaking the law" and on the run from society for seeking freedom from said forces. 

Visually I'm again drawn to plants, to the sky, and to the surreal. 

I also had a lot of fun here playing with mirrors to further alter reality, and blur the lines between real and imagined. How much of reality it the mirror reflection, what is altered by the reflection, what is truth, what is fiction, how much of what is reflection is skewed by my desires. What do the visuals in the mirror say about me as the person holding the mirror? So many good questions.
