Conflict of Ego Advertising Campaign

I was tasked with creating an advertising campaign consisting of a poster, a double sided flyer and a sticker for the clothing company Conflict of Ego. They describe themselves as "designed to empower", wanting to use their clothing to both represent and start conversations about social movements. One Conflict of Ego's main commitments is perpetuating the creation of slow fashion, a movement that revolves around sustainable and ethical awareness in the clothing industry, so I decided to design with this in mind.
My poster, flyer and sticker are meant to be printed on recycled paper, hence the rough texture of the background. The type itself is reminiscent of dadaesque and feminist/punk collage becauseI wanted to pull from the rage and frustration of this movement. The vertical background text repeating across all three mediums are made by moving type across a scanner, creating a dragging, liquid/stepping effect.

INSPIRATION

My research into the fast fashion industry/slow fashion movement was incredibly eye opening. I learned of all the billions of tons of clothing that gets thrown out every season to make way for what is "current". I learned how many big clothing retailers design most of their pieces to be worn maybe once or twice before they start falling apart. The effects that this fast-paced consumerism has on the environment are horrendous, so I decided that my campaign would focus on highlighting this injustice.

I pulled visual inspiration from the brand's fashion itself, specifically the manipulation of text to create texture. I utilized a collage-esque typeface inspired by the top left image below to pull from the rage and frustration of punk movements and found a lot of personal inspiration in the feminist roots of Conflict of Ego's philosophies.
This campaign won first place for Advertising Design in Santa Fe College's 2020 Juried Student Exhibition.
