I had to create a zine showing the influence of the Spanish era on Filipino culture for my Philippine Art History Class back in freshman year. I got my friend Hannah to model for me and we spent the weekend shooting photos with my iPhone 7+ camera. 

The instructions for this assignment were open-ended, so I chose to focus on the cultural effects of the Spanish colonization through the eyes of a Dalagang Filipina.  

Imploring the colonial ideals of what a woman should and should not be—what it means to be a Dalagang Filipina has definitely changed in the contemporary times; Dalagang Filipina now references the viral video of Youtuber Mimiyuuuh dancing to the song of the same title by ALLMO$T, instead of Fernando Amorsolo's work.
