Lumiére™ Award | Best Live-Action VR

The short film above is a monoscopic (2D) in 360. It looks best if you watch it in a VR headset, but one can appreciate it in "magic window" style. Launch the video on a smartphone or tablet, and if you have a strong WiFi signal, you simply move the phone or tablet towards the direction you wish to see. This is 3DoF, so, you do not need to walk around to appreciate the content.

For those on the technical side:

1.) This was done with experimental camera setups
made uniquely for our project.

2.) This was before stitching in-camera was possible,
or stitching on machines that didn't cost $15K+ at the time.

3.) Budget restrictions meant that me, the VFX Supe, wasn't even on set.
Trust me, the stitch lines trouble me terribly, but correcting for them all
would not have only busted the budget, but we would not have made
our premiere at VRLA 2017 (that was a thing, before VR Winter 2.0 set in).

4.) Having done this as the original founder of this startup,
and through my times at Visa, Cisco, Facebook, Oculus, etc.,
I have no interest in online debate about what does or
does not constitute "virtual reality."
