Background

주로 가전을 사고 아이를 낳아 키우게 될 대상인 신혼부부를 대상으로

부모와 아이의 거리감을 좁히고 함께 사용할 수 있는 가전제품을 논의해 보려 한다.

We are going to narrow the distance between parents and children and discuss home appliances that can be used together, mainly for newlyweds who will buy household appliances and have children.

대부분의 가전제품들은 어른의 시선을 중심으로 제작되어 출시된다. 하지만 어른만이 가정에서 가전제품을 사용하는 것은 아니다. 아이들 또한 생활하며 같이 사용하고 있기 때문에 일반적인 가전제품일지라도 부모와 아이의 시선 차이는 분명 존재한다. 그래서 우리는 어른의 사용성에 맞춰 제작되는 가전제품들에 아이의 시선을 더하여 각각의 시선의 맞는 사용성을 제시하는 것을 주목표로 정했다.

Most home appliances are manufactured and released around adult focus. However, adults are not the only ones who use home appliances at home. There is certainly a difference in height between parents and children, even if it is a common home appliance, because children also share the same life. So we set our main goal as a goal to present the right usability of each height by adding a child's focus to the appliances made for adult usability.

아이들의 성장 속도를 생각하여, 아이가 중점이 되는 것이 아닌 한 가족을 대상으로 초점을 잡았다. 그렇기 때문에 아이가 다 자라도 사용이 가능한 지속 가능한 사용성을 제안하여 아이들의 공간이 차후에 다른 공간으로 활용이 가능하도록 고민했다.

Considering the speed of children's growth, the focus was on one family rather than on children. Therefore, we suggested sustainable usability that children can use even when they are fully grown, so that children's space can be used as a different space in the future.

부모와 아이의 시선이 비스듬하게 맞닿는 모습에서 조형적인 아이디어를 얻었다.

We got a shape idea from the way parents and children's eyes obliquely come together in a single point.

Needs & Solution Process

The new usability

기존 냉장고의 사용성에서 대표적인 니즈를 부모와 아이 각각 2개씩 인터뷰를 통해 알 수 있었다. 아이의 니즈만이 아닌 부모의 니즈 또한 같이 해결할 수 있는 솔루션을 고민하여, 기존 냉장고와 다른 사용성을 제안한다.

The typical needs of existing refrigerators were identified through interviews with two parents and two children each. Considering the solution that can be solved not only by the child's needs but also by the parent's needs, it suggests a different usability than the existing refrigerator.

Idea 1

어린이가 냉장고에서 간식을 꺼내 먹을수 있는 위치는 대부분 상단에 위치해 있다. 만약 어린이가 자신의 높이에 맞는 냉장실에서 간식을 꺼내 먹을수 있다면?

Most of the places where children can take snacks out of the refrigerator are located at the top. What if a child could take a snack out of a refrigerator that fits his height?

Idea 2

냉장고는 대부분 한 칸에 다양한 간식, 식재료 등을 보관한다. 만약 간단히 먹을 수 있는 간식들과 요리와 식사에 필요한 식재료들을 분리할 수 있다면?

Refrigerators mostly store various snacks and ingredients in one compartment. What if you could separate simple snacks from the ingredients needed for cooking and eating?

Example of use

Top left section

상단의 공간은 어린이에겐 높은 위치로 부모들의 물품을 넣을 수 있도록 공간이다. 위에 작은 공간은 화장품이나 건강식품들, 하단 큰칸은 음료나 술 등을 보관할 수 있다.

The space at the top is space for parents to put their stuffs in. The small space above can store cosmetics or health foods, and the large bottom compartment can store drinks and alcohol.
