Danish Supermarket Chain Føtex

The Quick Take
I worked with føtex, a Danish supermarket chain, to produce a wide range of graphics every week for their website, landing pages, and newsletters—promoting new campaigns and creating more than 1500 display banners, which were all used across their online channels.

My Role
Graphic Design | Display Banner | Campaign Production | Feedback & Proofing

Introduction
føtex is a large supermarket chain and household brand found all over Denmark. In their mission to grow their e-commerce (føtex.dk) traffic and sales, føtex ran weekly marketing campaigns promoting exclusive deals through their website and newsletters.

To succeed with their weekly campaigns, føtex needed a consistent, large supply of graphics for their online channels, which were updated with new deals—and advertised through display banners—every few days.
Project Role
As the main Graphic Designer in the project, my role was to create weekly display banners for føtex's online campaigns and coordinate with their in-house marketing team regarding each campaign and its contents. This meant receiving weekly briefs and coordinating with the team about which products to promote, the presentation, campaign durations, and other details such as product availability in physical stores and online.
Process
Every production had to follow specific guidelines and dimensions, depending on which platform they were to be used for. The contents of the banners would range from promoting individual or category items (e.g. save 20% on all champagnes) to exclusive, seasonal campaigns with corresponding designs (Christmas Holidays, Black Friday, etc.).

Most productions would include light editing of product images, layout, adding a call-to-action button, and editing in promotional texts written by copywriters.

Guidelines
Strict deadlines and procedures were imposed to ensure the contents of each banner were accurate, adhered to design guidelines, and ready for campaign launch. Every production had to go through multiple sources and be given minimum 2 days to review the banners, before they were approved for use. Therefore, I had to maintain consistent communications with føtex's marketing team and ensure that they were always updated.

I would also receive and swiftly respond to any additional ad-hoc request, which helped create great working relations with their team.

Key Takeaways
By the end of the project, I managed to produce over 1500 banners, which were all used across føtex's front page, landing pages, and newsletters. It was an extremely challenging and lengthy project, with tight deadlines and guidelines around every corner, but I managed to learn a lot about working within brand guidelines, design proofing, and project and time management.
