Same but different shows pictures of siblings including halfbrothers and halfsisters.
Contrary to the expected similarities, the series deals with the differences between physiological features and differences in age of related siblings.
In context of the socio-cultural changes in our community, it is no longer exceptional to have a halfsibling. Nor is it exeptional to have a family member immigrational status or to live in a ‘patchwork family‘. These factors cause the differentials. But however even full siblings can appear differentdue to the recombination of their parents‘ genes.
The physiological similarities and differencesof the siblings are documented and emphasized in thephotographs by the objective styling, including the isolation from the environment, the authentic view to the camera and their genetic clothes. Here photography is used as proof for their existencewith reference to Peirce‘s term ‘indexicality‘. Indexicality determines that the taken photograph alwayshas an actual connection to an existing object in reality.
