For an institution celebrating its 190th Founder’s Day, a simple report would not be able to encapsulate its history which exceeds and overflows that of modern Singapore. Creating a vintage Founder’s Day Report was therefore not merely a stylistic exercise, but also one that became a studious and deliberate historical excavation (and subsequently, reframing) of design artifacts and textual elements.
It is interesting to note how old advertisements and articles lost their specific intentionality and purposeful nature (whatever they might have been - we were not about to speculate) and became miniature portraits in a seamless gallery paying tribute to an institution's history.
As a report not only to be read but that also leads you into a carefully curated timewarp, the materiality of the report evokes old-world colonial charms blended with a hint of the new, a tension in line with the client's own "Great Expectations" campaign. Looking back, yet forward-looking.
