W3 Awards

In collaboration with Graham Clifford, we polished up the brand identity of w3 awards, a sister to the Webbys. They honor digital excellence worldwide in all forms, and everyone from small shops to agencies to in-house departments gets a chance to shine. Satellite developed the strategic architecture and copywriting while Graham Clifford spearheaded the identity.  We derived the system from the notorious double forward slash staple of URLs and code hierarchy // into a culturally relevant visual brand identity. The heart of the brand is the monogram, or rather “illumogram,” conveying creativity, collaboration & connectivity—the power of all three. From brand strategy, to identity system to interactive design, we helped w3 illuminate digital brilliance.

The W3 Awards identity system is selected to appear in Typography Annual 11, the January/February 2021 issue of Communication Arts.
