Pedagogy of the Media Oppressed

This project was commissioned by Rev. Fr. Gaston Roberge for his book: Pedagogy of the Media Oppressed (title later changed to 'Media Dancer: Who Sets the Tune?').

The book was addressed to topics on new media and the design was expected to reflect it. The book followed an equal 2-columns grid and was to be in a mirrored, square format.
full spread view. the equality of proportions drive the liberal new media agenda.
capitalization (or any other forced emphasis) on the chapter headings avoided to re-affirm a sense of a distributed power structure.

Also the chapter (read: topic) name and it's location are displayed across the top corners of the pages to simulate the random access afforded by the hyperlinked web - especially since the book was written to allow readers to quickly pick a topic without any conformance to a larger narrative flow common to the book medium.
at the bottom of the page, a breadcrumb was added - a list of all the topics covered and the current topic highlighted. this would prevent the reader to constantly refer to the contents (read: home / sitemap) page.
