Aye To The City: Reviving the Superblock
A group proposal to redensify and enrich a sprawling residential area near Glasgow city centre.
The centre of an existing, unsuccessful super block is built into with live work units, acting to concentrate civic green spaces in the area, and to revitalise the back-court.
The proposal was inspired by Graz Alte Poststrasse by Syzkowitz + Kowalski, and Vienna Rabenhof by H. Aichinger: a human scale intervention to change what is currently underused and negative space, and an attempt to reintroduce a dense urban typology, more in keeping with its place adjacent to the city centre.
