ADVE2291 Design Lab 1: Project 4 Photoshop techniques
This project allowed me to expand on my knowledge of photoshop. The objective was to create a magazine layout for a chosen article. I decided to focus on wildfires, specifically in California because I think it is important for people to be aware what is going on outside of their own little world.

Initial Idea Sketch
Photo Elements
I started by choosing some copyright free images. My first element was the firefighter figure, I used magic wand tool to make my desired selection and then cleaned it up where needed.
I next made my selection for the flames. I started with the quick selection tool and then switched to the lasso tool to achieve a clean selection of the pieces I wanted.
I began to add all my elements together. From here, I messed around with coloring, contrast, brightness, feathering, etc.
I brought my photo illustration into our given indesign file. From here, I gave my article a title and started to bring in type from the article. I decided to make the background black and use white for my copy color to make it a little more interesting to look at.
It took me a little bit of time to choose where I thought my body copy made most sense to be on the page. I also tossed around a few different fonts, sizes, and kerning.
