About the project
This short film is a collaboration with Flat Studio to participate in the EcoFilm Festival 2018 located in Mexico. The theme of that year was sustainable mobility.
"On our way to the future with: Subject X" follows our character X on a "educational" video of how we are polluting our world by using a lot of cars and how can we not only respect the laws of mobility but to improve our mobility sharing cars or using other ways to transport.
Animation
All the animation was made in Photoshop to maintain the traditional animation style we love in Casa Cocuyo.
Storyboard
Once we had our story and the script, we created the Storyboard using Procreate. Here we signaled all the movements of the camera, main actions, descriptions and what the narrator would say in each scene.
Layouts

Visual Development
Setting the style
First, our Art Director created this different pieces of concept art to explore the style in which we would work the short film. The main idea was to make an "old" retro cartoon set in 2000´s.
Character Development
Our character designer proposed different designs for our main character X:
Vehicles Development
At first, our main character was going to travel to the future, so our vehicle designer came up with all these concepts; although in the end our character travelled to the past, the final versions ended like today's vehicles.
